The Orangutan Conservation Services Project (OCSP)
*ARTICLE I. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION*
The Orangutan Conservation Services Project (OCSP) is a USAID sponsored
program that runs through September 30, 2010. OCSP is a crisis response
program that aims to maximize protection and long-term survival of viable
orangutan populations in the wild. The program works to arrest, reduce or
possibly eliminate threats to orangutans as well as address the major
drivers behind those threats. Main drivers of orangutan habitat loss and
population decline include forest conversion, unsustainable logging and
wildlife trafficking.

OCSP recognizes that media plays important roles in supporting the success
of OCSP’s programs implementation by increasing public awareness as part of
advocacy and public education campaigns of orangutans conservation.
Throughout 2008, OCSP (Orangutan Conservation Services Program) in
cooperation with grantees have conducted a series of activities to increase
the media coverage of Orangutans issues. The activities included:
Environmental Journalism workshop aiming on the issues of Orangutans,
Fellowship, and Award involving journalists from Jakarta, North Sumatra,
Aceh, Central Kalimantan, West Kalimantan and South Kalimantan. The entire
series of activities are designed to increase the interest and media
attention to highlight the Orangutans issues that have long been neglected
in the main news agenda of Indonesia newspapers both nationally and locally.
Based on the lessons learned from last year activities, OCSP is planning to
conduct media refreshment workshop and editors meeting. The aim is to refresh
the understanding and knowledge of journalists and editors concerning
Orangutans issues, re-mapping problems and challenges that media’s editorial
are facing in covering Orangutan issues and to develop a constructive
relationship between the media and conservation organizations by information
sharing.
*The objective of the workshop is to: *
1. Provide the latest update information on Orangutan issues to the journalists.
2. Build a more constructive relationship between the media and the orangutan conservation related agencies.
3. Increase the awareness and commitment of the editors to the importance of orangutan issues and encourage them to provide a consistent coverage on the issues..
4. Increase journalists’ ability and skill in in-depth reporting on Orangutan conservation issues.
5. Establish a communication forum between journalists, and Orangutan agencies in Jakarta and the region of East Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, North Sumatra and Aceh

The media event organizer is a consultant to the OCSP that would be responsible for:
1. Organizing the media refreshment workshop and editors meeting including provide logistic issues, such as: selection and recommendations on suitable venues (locations), hiring of approved location, hiring of approved speaker, list of potential attendees, design and delivery of invitations
2. Assisting in the development of the workshop material and agenda in line with DAI and USAID standard.

FINANCE MANAGER

Main Responsibilities:
The Finance Manager reports to Organizational Support Director and manage a team of two staff. The Finance Manager, as part of Country Middle Management team, will responsible to take leading role in overall country financial management to supports for office smooth operations and, at the same time, promote for good governance and transparency.
Followings are key area of responsibilities of Organizational Support Manager of which has been adapted to suit future growth of the Organization.
* Responsible for compliance of financial standard operational policies and
procedures.
* Responsible for accounting system with accuracy, proper records keeping at a
timely manner and ensure compliance to GAAP and IFRS.
* Responsible for sufficient financial reporting to support smooth operations and
decision making.
* Responsible for proper budget management and ensure smooth cash flow to support
smooth operations.
Qualification & Experience:
* Bachelor degree in Accounting with at least 12 years qualified experience in
Finance and Accounting such as budgeting process, book closing process, account
reconciliation process, etc. with minimum 3 years in managerial or team leader
level and proven record of a good team player.
* Experiences with SUN accounting system will be an asset/preferable.
* Demonstrate sound knowledge and experiences in standard financial policies and
procedures, Indonesia taxation, transaction analysis with compliance to GAAP/IAS
and demonstrate ability to maintain and/or implement proper internal controls.
* Posses knowledge of reporting methodologies and IT skills particularly in the use
of database, spreadsheet and Pivot Table.
* Committed and goal oriented, mature and takes an extremely proactive approach with
experiences of an international working environment and liaising with people from
different cultures based in different locations.
* Demonstrate ability to work independently, take own initiative, fast learner, self
starter, be flexible, able to manage and prioritize numerous tasks simultaneously
and work well under pressure and tight deadlines.

Position Title : Program Officer
Reports to : Resident Country Director, Resident
Program Officer
The program officer (PO) is responsible for designing and implementing programs for IRI. She/he works with the RCD and RPO to develop long-term and annual plans for the country program, identifies potential partner organizations, develops training strategies and oversees project implementation.
The PO closely monitors political and governmental developments in Indonesia, and develops and maintains the relationship between IRI and country partners and potential grantees. She/he designs, develops and implements projects in collaboration with IRI in country senior staff and partner organizations. The PO executes programs, including conferences, consultations, training seminars and other program activities, and serves as trainer when needed.
The PO is responsible for providing input into program proposals and budgets, and to provide quarterly reports and program evaluations; the PO is responsible to ensure that reporting requirements are met and that programs remain within budget allocations, and that partners or grantees comply with any agreements or contracts.
Specific responsibilities might include:
- Manage administrative aspects of programs, including proposals, workplans, budgets
and program activities
- Oversee development, implementation and administration of IRI training program
- Oversee activities of APO and PA; delegate work appropriately
- Field monitoring of training activities, when necessary
- Coordinate with relevant government institutions to ensure appropriate permissions
and approvals for IRI programs
- Regular coordination with political party and legislative leadership from all
political parties at national and local levels
- Coordinate IRI governmental and political programs at the provincial and local
level as required
- Regular communication and program coordination with relevant provincial and local
constituent and civil society organizations as required
- Provide regular updates and analysis of political and governmental environment to
RPD and RPO
- Conduct legal research concerning political and election law topics as required
- Oversee development of relevant training materials and curricula
- Write weekly reports on program activities
- Write quarterly reports on program activities
- Develop three-month budgets for assigned programs, to be submitted to RCD each
month (per IRI accounting procedures)
- Write up meeting and training reports as required
- Represent IRI at meetings/workshops as required
- Provide advice to RCD and RPO on programming decisions
- Provide written and spoken translation as needed
- Coordinate work of international trainers as needed
- Coordinate with other IRI program officers
- Other tasks as requested by RCD/RPO
Desired Qualifications:
- Master Degree in political science, international relations or related field and
3-5 years' professional experience in democratic governance and politics
- Excellent written and oral communications and presentation skills in English and
Bahasa Indonesia.
- Working knowledge of political community, and issues impacting women and youth
political participation in Indonesia.
- Proven ability to communicate skills and experience to others as a trainer,
advisor or technical consultant.
- Demonstrated experience developing and administering program budgets required;
experience in managing and motivating staff is preferable.
- Ability to prepare and present project proposals with varying audiences
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team to coordinate and lead the
efforts of other professionals to effectively meet Program goals.
- Ability to travel to regularly travel outside to provinces outside of Jakarta
